Gekko Molly Lineups

Gekko’s Molly is unique as opposed to other abilities of a similar kind in the game. It is not for instant damage, but more for area control. Anyone staying in the molly will instantly die rewarding you with the kill. However, it doesn’t deal damage to anyone staying in it until a certain period of time passes. What you get in return is the amount of space it covers, making it perfect for timed lineups and here you will find our best collected ones yet:

A Default

What Does It Cover: Covering the default planting spot on A, this line up will get any enemy off the spike and possibly shift the round to your favour completely.

When To Use It: Best used in post-plant scenarios as this is a powerful lineup to buy you and your team time, and possibly earn free kills.

What Makes It Special: This molly will cover a large portion of the site making it dramatically hard for enemies to walk close or try and survive defusing the spike.

To do it, come nearby the wooden box and find this angle to line yourself up (look at the minimap) and then aim your second ability with that light, simply throw your molly from there.

A Default 2

What Does It Cover: This second lineup on A site will cover the second default planting spot, which is the one towards Church. It can be used on many occasions and mostly it is in clutch scenarios.

When To Use It: Best used when your team has resulted to this planting spot, and you need an effective, quick, lineup that will deal a lot of damage and prevent anyone from defusing.

What Makes It Special: This molly will cover the entirety of Church, making it impossible for enemies to try and defuse the spike without consequences.

Simply come over to this corner, aim your crosshair at this spot and send your molly.

B Default

What Does It Cover: This lineup on B long will send your molly flying all the way to the default planting spot on B, which is, the one to be played for from B main.

When To Use It: Best used in post plant scenarios mid retake as that will hurt the enemy’s retake line and delay them from taking any chance at defusing the spike.

What Makes It Special: Playing from Long, you can also take the fights while you have performed the lineup which favors you in winning the round.

Come over to the corner on B long and aim your second ability right with that fish on the wall, then, simply jump and throw your molly.

B Default 2

What Does It Cover: This second lineup on B, is more risky as it will have no cover for you but it will hit directly the second default planting spot on B, which is the one safe behind the boxes on site.

When To Use It: If you couldn’t get full control of site, you can use this plant and accompany it with the lineup to ensure you have a strong post plant line.

What Makes It Special: Playing from B long while the spike is planting for site gives you a sense of unpredictability which can be the reason you win a round.

Simply come over to this corner on B long and aim your crosshair at that spot, just as in the picture. Then, throw your molly.

Mid

What Does It Cover: This lineup on Mid, will take a strong hit on anyone standing towards Mid link. It is most useful to clear anyone who is peeking as you cross.

When To Use It: Best used in an attacking scenario to prevent anyone from peeking you on mid doors or to simply allow for a safer cross.

What Makes It Special: Enemies on Mid link will have to reposition or die in your molly which in both ways, gives you an advantage as you retain this area.

To do it, come over and look at this spot on the sky, then, throw your molly. It can be done while walking as well.

Pro Tips

  • Keep in mind that Gekko’s Molly works quite differently. It has a cooldown before it explodes killing anyone standing inside its radius, but it will not deal any damage until that timer has run out.

  • Players can still dodge the molly by running out of it. This is because the molly’s damage comes fast but not in one instant making it possible for some to jump out of it at the right moment. That will still deal some damage though.

  • Since your Molly takes time to activate, this could allow enemies to defuse the spike up to the half depending on the timing and usage of it. Keep that in mind going in any match and using your lineups.

  • Always remember to ask for accompanying utility from your teammates as it can be a tremendous help for your own set of plays with Gekko. Especially in post-plant scenarios.

  • Gekko’s Molly is the only piece of utility that you will be able to pick back up after using. So be precise and ensure that you only use it when you can capitalize on it.

  • In case you use your Molly to clear an angle, do not look away from it just as you throw your ability. You will have to hold the corner for a bit more to ensure that nobody is there as if you catch enemies they will come out swinging and you want to be ready for that.

  • Aside from teammate utility, you can always use Dizzy (Flash Ability) in pair with your Molly lineup. While enemies might stick to the defuse even if the molly hits them, they will definitely get off when fully flashed as they will be scared of you peeking or pushing toward them. In addition, it reveals their position which tells you if they are defusing or not.
