FireRed and LeafGreen Return on Switch

Pokemon FireRed Version and Pokemon LeafGreen Version are officially coming to modern Nintendo systems after many years of requests from fans.
The news was confirmed by The Pokemon Company during this year’s Pokémon Day
presentation.
The games will become available digitally right after the broadcast on February 27, 2026. Both titles will run on the current Switch and its newer model from day one.
A Return to the Kanto Journey
FireRed and LeafGreen first released in 2004 as updated versions of the original 1996 Kanto adventures. They kept the same story that begins in Pallet Town but improved the graphics, added wireless features, and expanded the content after the main story.
For this anniversary release, the games will only be sold as downloads. Each version will cost 19.99 US dollars.
Online Features Coming Later
The store listings confirm that support for Pokemon HOME is planned. This feature will not be available on launch day but will be added in a later update. Once active, players will be able to transfer their Pokémon into the storage service.
The games will also include the Wireless Club feature, letting nearby players trade, battle, and chat using local multiplayer.
Special Edition in Japan
In Japan, fans will be able to order a collector bundle through the official Pokémon Center online store.
The set includes a download card presented in a box styled after the Game Boy Advance era, along with display items inspired by the original releases.
