Arc Raiders New Feature Is Coming

Developers of Arc Raiders are exploring new ways for players to defeat the game’s largest enemies, potentially inspired by a famous Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back scene.
In Arc Raiders, players already rely on targeting weak points and breaking key components to defeat massive robotic enemies.
However, the team at Embark Studios is interested in expanding those options further using physics-based mechanics.
Inspired by the Battle of Hoth
Machine learning research lead Martin Singh-Blom explained that the team would like to introduce more advanced physics interactions into the game.
One idea involves using ropes or wires to trip large enemies, similar to the iconic Battle of Hoth scene from Star Wars.

In that scene, the Rebel Alliance uses cables from speeders to wrap around the legs of towering AT-AT walkers, bringing them crashing down.
Singh-Blom suggested that a similar mechanic could work in Arc Raiders if the game’s physics systems were advanced enough.
