ExtraEmily has announced a break from streaming after facing accusations of using viewbots to boost her viewer count.

The situation started earlier in April when a clip from her stream went viral. Viewers noticed what looked like a browser tab labeled “ViewBot.ai,” which quickly led to speculation across Reddit and other platforms.

Things escalated further when a moderator from the r/LivestreamFail subreddit was banned after removing posts about the clip. According to the mod team, the moderator claimed the tab came from a pop-up, but others said they couldn’t recreate it.

ExtraEmily announces streaming break

On April 21, ExtraEmily told her viewers she would be stepping away to focus on herself.

She said she plans to take time to work on her mental health and will limit communication during the break.

Any updates, she explained, would only come through her Discord or offline chat, as she intends to stay off social media for now.

She also mentioned that she’ll be doing some thinking during this time and may come back stronger.

Not quitting Twitch for good

Even with the break, ExtraEmily made it clear that she doesn’t plan to quit streaming entirely.

Her comments suggest this is a temporary step back rather than a full exit, with a return likely once she feels ready.

Viewbotting Allegations

The controversy has added fuel to an ongoing discussion about viewbotting across platforms like Twitch.

The topic has been widely debated, with many streamers accused of using bots to artificially increase their numbers. Earlier this year, Reed Duchscher even claimed that streamers who don’t use bots may be at a disadvantage in competitive categories.

Despite platform rules against it, viewbotting continues to be an issue. It’s often difficult to prove, which is why bans are rare unless clear evidence surfaces.
