PS5 Glitch Shows GTA 6 Early

PS5 Glitch Shows GTA 6 Early

A strange glitch on the PlayStation 5 made it appear as if some players were already playing Grand Theft Auto VI months before its release.

Screenshots began spreading online that showed player profiles on PlayStation Network listing the game in the “Recently Played” section. This quickly led to rumors that a small group of players had somehow gained early access.

In reality, the situation was caused by a technical trick rather than actual gameplay access.

Store Database Update Triggered the Issue

The confusion started when new game IDs for GTA 6 appeared inside the PlayStation Store database. This kind of update usually happens behind the scenes before pre orders are announced.

When fans noticed the change, many believed it could mean a new trailer and pre orders were about to be revealed. However, no announcement followed.

Some technically skilled users soon discovered they could use those IDs to make their profiles show GTA 6 as a recently played game.

No Real Access to the Game

The trick did not provide access to the game itself. It only changed how the profile information appeared.

Anyone who checked the player’s trophy page would see that there was no real progress, since all trophies still showed zero completion.

The process also required several steps and was not easy for most players to copy.

Rockstar Quietly Stops the Trick

Rockstar Games did not release a public statement about the situation. However, reports from the community say the company quickly removed the related store data from PlayStation’s system.

Once the title IDs were removed, the method stopped working and the false listings disappeared.

GTA 6 Still Months Away

Despite the brief confusion, fans will still have to wait to play the game for real. Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.

A larger marketing campaign is expected to begin in the summer of 2026, which may reveal more details about the highly anticipated release.

Until then, the strange PS5 glitch is simply another unusual moment in the long wait for GTA 6.
