GTA 6 Buyers Favor $100 Edition

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says more GTA 6 players are preordering the $99.99 Ultimate Edition instead of the $79.99 Standard Edition.

However, he believes this may be because the game’s biggest fans are the first people placing their orders.

GTA 6 Preorders Opened in June

Rockstar Games opened GTA 6 preorders on June 25, ending months of rumors that the standard game could cost $100.

The Standard Edition costs $79.99 and includes the full game. Players who preorder it before November 20 will also receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.

The $99.99 Ultimate Edition includes extra vehicles, weapons, clothes, tattoos, shops, and other in-game items.

Ultimate Edition Leads Early Preorders

During an interview with CNBC, Zelnick was asked whether players were choosing both editions equally.

He said preorders were leaning toward the more expensive version, which he called the Premium Edition during the interview.

Take-Two did not reveal how many people had ordered each version or how large the gap was between them.

GTA’s Biggest Fans May Be Ordering First

Zelnick believes the early results may be affected by the type of players who preorder games months before release.

The most dedicated GTA fans are more likely to order early, and those players may also be more willing to pay for the Ultimate Edition.

The numbers could change closer to launch when more casual players begin buying the game.

Do Not Expect a Christmas Discount

Zelnick also suggested that GTA 6 will not receive a discount around Christmas.

This means the $79.99 and $99.99 prices will likely remain unchanged for some time after the game is released.

Players hoping to wait for an early sale may have to wait much longer.

GTA 6 Demand Is Already Huge

Take-Two previously described overall GTA 6 preorder demand as “unprecedented.”

However, the company also noted that preorders can still be canceled. This means the current numbers do not count as final sales.

Even with that warning, the strong demand for the more expensive edition shows how much interest surrounds GTA 6.

Rockstar Remains Quiet About GTA 6 Online

The strong Ultimate Edition preorders come as Take-Two looks for more ways to make money from its gaming audience.
