Xbox Responds to GTA 6 Leak Subpoena
Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet has responded after a judge approved Take-Two’s requests for information connected to the Cyberleek GTA 6 leaks.
The court’s decision means Microsoft and Discord will have to cooperate with the investigation and provide records linked to the accounts in question.
Court Approves Take-Two’s Requests
On August 20, Take-Two filed two requests in a New York federal court. One targeted Microsoft, while the other targeted Discord.
Take-Two asked both companies to provide information that could help identify the person or group behind Cyberleek.
A New York District Court judge has now approved both requests.
What Microsoft Has Been Asked to Provide
Microsoft has been asked to hand over several types of information connected to the suspected accounts.
This may include account details, internal records, linked services, IP addresses, device IDs, and relevant files stored on OneDrive.
Discord will also be required to provide information linked to the accounts involved in the leaks.
These records could help Take-Two and Rockstar discover who created or controlled the Cyberleek accounts.
Xbox Says It Is Helping Rockstar
Following the court’s decision, Van Vliet posted a statement on X confirming that Microsoft is supporting the investigation.
“We are working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property,” he wrote.
Microsoft has not shared any details about the information it has found or provided.
Cyberleek Starts Selling Custom Requests
While Take-Two continues its investigation, Cyberleek has updated its website with a new Contact section.
The leaker is now offering paid “in-video ads” and “custom-made gameplay footage.”
However, anyone who wants to contact Cyberleek and discuss a deal must first send more than $164,000 in cryptocurrency.
Leaks Continue to Promote a Memecoin
Cyberleek has promoted a Solana-based memecoin since the first GTA 6 videos appeared online.
The leaked videos have included Cyberleek branding along with messages promoting the cryptocurrency.
This has raised questions about whether the leaks were mainly released to attract attention and increase interest in the coin.
The Search for Cyberleek Continues
Take-Two and Rockstar have not publicly identified the person or group behind Cyberleek.
However, access to Microsoft and Discord records could give the companies important details about the accounts, devices, and internet connections used to share the leaked material.
Rockstar has also continued removing leaked GTA 6 footage through copyright claims. Despite the leaks, the company’s planned GTA 6 Netflix presentation is still expected to go ahead.
