Your Discord data may have been subpoenaed over GTA 6 leaks
Your Discord account information may have been included in a sweeping subpoena connected to Take-Two’s hunt for the person behind the latest GTA 6 leaks.
The publisher is pursuing the identity of Cyberleek, the name used to distribute unreleased GTA 6 gameplay online. However, its request to Discord appears to extend beyond the individual accounts directly suspected of sharing the footage.
Take-Two requested information associated with users who communicated in three named Discord communities from June 1, 2026 onward. One of those communities is linked to GTA creator DarkViperAU and reportedly has more than 100,000 members.
This does not mean that every member’s information has been given to Take-Two. It does mean that accounts falling within the subpoena’s wording could potentially have their records collected as part of the investigation.
What Discord information did Take-Two request?
The subpoena seeks significantly more than public usernames and messages about the leaks.
Information requested from Discord includes account IDs, registration emails, phone numbers, registration and last-login IP addresses, linked connections and device identifiers.
It also seeks original message records and other information that could help identify the person or people operating the Cyberleek accounts.
Linked connections could potentially include services such as Google or Xbox if a user attached those accounts to their Discord profile. IP and device records could also help investigators compare accounts across multiple platforms.
Take-Two has separately pursued information from Microsoft and submitted requests involving X and YouTube as its investigation expanded.
The Discord request is attracting the most concern because its wording potentially encompasses users beyond those directly named as suspected leakers.
Simply joining a server could put your account within reach
The subpoena reportedly asks for identifying information connected to accounts that were members communicating within the listed servers from June 1 onward.
Therefore, being one of the server’s more than 100,000 members does not automatically prove that all of your Discord data was requested. The exact application may depend on whether your account communicated in the server and how Discord interprets the scope of the demand.
It also does not mean Take-Two suspects every affected person of leaking GTA 6.
The publisher appears to be gathering a large pool of records that could be compared with known Cyberleek activity. This could allow investigators to connect usernames, linked accounts, IP addresses or devices across Discord and other platforms.
That broad approach is exactly what has alarmed users who may have joined a GTA community without ever downloading, distributing or discussing stolen material.
Has Discord already handed over the data?
There is currently no public confirmation that Discord has transferred the requested user information to Take-Two.
Take-Two said the first Discord subpoena was issued on August 21 and “promptly served on Discord.” However, Discord marketing director Ryan K. Rigney said on August 24 that the company had not received it.
