GTA 6 pre-orders reportedly pass $750 million ahead of launch

GTA 6 could already be approaching a major sales milestone before launch, with new estimates putting its digital pre-order revenue above $750 million.

Analytics firm Sensor Tower estimates that players have pre-ordered approximately 7.71 million copies across PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those purchases represent around $751 million in revenue, weeks before the game’s scheduled November release.

The figures suggest pre-orders have continued climbing, adding more than $100 million in estimated revenue over the past two weeks.

PS5 accounts for nearly three-quarters of GTA 6 pre-orders

According to Sensor Tower’s sales tracker, PlayStation makes up 74% of estimated digital pre-orders, leaving Xbox Series X|S with the remaining 26%.

That puts PS5 at roughly 5.74 million copies and $559 million in revenue. Xbox contributes an estimated 1.97 million copies, worth approximately $192 million.

These numbers only cover digital purchases. Physical pre-orders are excluded, and neither Rockstar nor parent company Take-Two Interactive has confirmed the estimates.

GTA 6 estimates draw comparisons with GTA 5’s launch

The reported total is getting close to the more than $800 million GTA 5 generated worldwide during its first 24 hours in September 2013.

Take-Two announced that milestone in an official statement, with GTA 5 subsequently passing $1 billion in sales within three days.

There are limits to that comparison, however. GTA 6’s $751 million figure represents unofficial estimates of digital pre-orders accumulated before release. GTA 5’s opening-day total was reported by its publisher and covered sales following launch.

Even with that distinction, Sensor Tower’s estimates suggest substantial demand for Rockstar’s sequel before players can access the game.
