Riot Confirms Changes Are Coming To Deadlock
Ryan Cousart a Live Balance Designer on VALORANT gave some insight about the upcoming Deadlock changes. Previously Riot Developers spoke about changes to Deadlock's Sound Sensor, as its weak for holding flanks unlike Killjoy and Cypher that can efficiently hold the team's back.
What is going to change?
Ryan Cousart said in a tweet that Deadlock changes are indeed coming, but not in the way we have anticipated when it was first talked about.
Meaning that yes, while Deadlock is weaker at holding flanks, the agent compensates for it with the ability to aggress and stall enemies. So this weaker flank but stronger aggression type of Sentinel is unlocking a new playstyle, which Riot is becoming fond of.
Ryan implied that the direction changes will take from here will be to empower this playstyle instead of "fixing" her sound sensor to make it viable for holding flanks.
So what will change? It seems like the Sound Sensor might be the ability that will not change, which is what Ryan meant when he said not in the way we anticipated, as we all thought changes will come to the sound sensor.
He later added that they did indeed try to experiment with the Sound Sensor, but nothing seemed to work. They tried "crazy" things but never found what felt right.
Finally, he confirmed that they did "cook" something light, a new small change coming to the agent that will allow you to do more Deadlock stuff
