Take-Two CEO clears up GTA 6 physical release rumors and GTA Online future

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken out about recent rumors surrounding GTA 6, including claims about delayed physical copies and questions about the future of GTA Online.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently set to release on November 19, 2026, after being delayed from its original holiday 2025 window and later from a May 26, 2026 date. With each delay, concerns from fans have continued to grow.

No plan to delay GTA 6 physical copies

Recent reports suggested Rockstar Games might delay physical copies of GTA 6 to avoid leaks before launch. The rumor claimed this move would help prevent early access through stolen discs or retail slip-ups.

During Take-Two’s February 3 earnings call, Zelnick addressed those claims directly. When asked about delaying physical editions, he stated that delaying boxed copies is not planned at this time.

The confirmation came as a relief for fans who were worried that physical versions could arrive much later than digital releases.

GTA Online support will continue

Zelnick also discussed the future of GTA Online and how it fits alongside the launch of GTA 6. He made it clear that Take-Two plans to keep supporting GTA Online as long as players stay active.

According to Zelnick, Rockstar has proven that new content still brings players back, even after GTA Online has been around for years. Strong engagement and consistent updates have kept the mode alive.

This lines up with ongoing rumors that GTA Online may continue alongside any new multiplayer experience tied to GTA 6.

Pricing still unknown

While physical release concerns were addressed, Zelnick did not comment on the rumored price of GTA 6. Speculation has suggested the game could cost $100 or more, but no official details have been shared.

Rockstar has reportedly filed trademarks related to in-box items like maps and manuals, hinting that physical editions will include traditional extras.
