Waylay Returns to Valorant After Being Disabled for the Second Time

Waylay is available in Valorant again after Riot Games temporarily disabled the Agent because of a problem involving her Refract ability.

This was the second time Waylay had been removed due to a bug, adding her to a growing list of Agents that Riot has temporarily taken out of rotation to protect competitive integrity.

Valorant has experienced several Agent-related issues in recent months. In May, Neon was temporarily disabled after players discovered that her Fast Lane ability could provide an unintended wallhack.

Later that month, Riot also removed Cypher when a powerful bug allowed players to fire weapons through his Spycam.

Waylay became the latest Agent affected when Riot discovered that Refract could show players inaccurate visual information.

Why Riot Disabled Waylay

“We’re aware of a bug that’s causing Waylay to see incorrect visual information after using her Refract ability,” the Valorant developers announced on July 31.

Riot explained that the potential impact on competitive integrity was serious enough to justify temporarily disabling the Agent until a fix could be deployed.

While Waylay was unavailable in Ranked and other ability-based modes, some players reported that they could still select her in Team Deathmatch, where standard Agent abilities are not used.

Riot has since addressed the problem and returned Waylay to the active Agent roster.

Waylay Has Now Been Disabled Twice

The Refract visual bug marks the second separate issue that has resulted in Waylay being disabled.

She has also been connected to several other unintended interactions. One bug allowed Waylay to enter walls on Icebox by combining Lightspeed and Refract. Riot attempted to address that problem in Valorant patch 13.02, although some players later claimed that she could still reach areas beneath the map.

Console players previously reported another issue that allowed Waylay to gain additional speed by dashing and quickly switching to a flex item. Her movement abilities have also helped players discover several unintended positions across different maps.

Waylay’s return means players can once again use her across Valorant’s standard modes.

However, being disabled twice because of separate bugs speaks about the difficulties Riot has faced when managing the Agent’s fast movement and teleport-style mechanics.
