Oliver “kzy” Heck has received a lifetime ban from ESIC following an investigation into NOMERCY’s matches at Roman Imperium Cup VII. Four teammates were also sanctioned in a case linked to a wager reportedly worth more than $4.5 million in potential returns.
The former MOUZ player received the longest punishment, while the remaining players were handed suspensions lasting between three and five years. ESIC announced its decisions on October 15.
Four heavy defeats put NOMERCY under scrutiny
NOMERCY managed just five rounds across four matches on March 28, suffering consecutive losses against:
-
BetBoom: 13-0
-
Sangal: 13-3
-
BESTIA: 13-1
-
Wildcard: 13-1
Attention intensified when images of an alleged $57,000 accumulator circulated online. The wager backed decisive victories for all four opponents, with a possible return exceeding $4.5 million.
ESIC identified a combination bet carrying a -9.5 round handicap in each fixture. For every selection to succeed, NOMERCY needed to lose each match by at least 10 rounds. All four results satisfied that condition.
Why ESIC handed kzy a lifetime ban
Investigators assessed match footage alongside betting data, individual player analysis, communications and available financial evidence. Their review highlighted recurring issues involving positioning, utility, trades and decisions during rounds.
ESIC attributed kzy’s lifetime sanction to findings of manipulation and corrupt conduct, his leadership responsibilities and refusal to cooperate.
The other punishments were:
| Player | Ban length | Listed expiry |
|---|---|---|
| James8k | Five years | April 23, 2031 |
| perakokanje | Five years | April 23, 2031 |
| 2xplayN | Three years | April 23, 2029 |
| srtn1 | Three years | April 23, 2029 |
Cooperation counted toward the shorter sanctions for 2xplayN and srtn1. The fixed-term bans include credit for provisional suspensions served since April 23, 2026.
The reported $4.5 million payout never arrived
Although the results matched the wager’s requirements, RTP Arena reported that the bookmaker voided the bet.
The outlet said tournament organizers confirmed that information.
The potential return should therefore not be confused with money actually paid out. ESIC’s published ruling does not name the bettor or establish that kzy personally collected any winnings.
