The 10 Best Fortnite Dances & Emotes in 2023
Fortnite may be a third-person shooter game at its core, but expressing yourself is a big part of its experience. Whether you're having fun with your friends, mocking an opponent, or just completing a challenge - having the best emotes always makes you stand out.
The most fascinating thing about Fortnite emotes is that they don't conform to a specific type. While a lot of emotes are about dancing, there are some that give you entirely new items such as a small car to drive in. And a few even let others join in and do things like performing classics like Master of Puppets with you.
It's difficult to pick just a few favorites when the developers add so many of them on a regular basis. But it's no secret that some of them are far better than the others.
So, we've made our very own list of the top 10 best Fortnite dances and emotes in history!
The Best Fortnite Dances and Emotes
The dances and emotes in this list are not in ranked order. We love all of these equally and hope that we included some of your favorites too.
1. Snikt! Snikt!
Snikt! Snikt! is a unique Emote that lets you show off the cool Adamantium claws of Wolverine. Not only can you show them come out, but this also includes an animation for inserting them back in too.
However, that’s just barely scratching the surface. The real reason behind why Snikt! Snikt! is one of the best emotes in Fortnite is because it comes with an instant pickaxe. No matter which pickaxe you equip in a match – when you use this emote, it automatically gets replaced with Wolverine’s claws. And you can change back anytime you want too!
Thus, Wolverine fan or not – this is a pickaxe that is a must-have due to its unique capabilities.
2. Never Gonna
What’s better than Rick Rolling someone in 2010? It’s Rick Rolling someone in 2023, of course. The Never Gonna emote lets you dance to the iconic Rick Astley song whenever you want, 7 days of the week and 24 hours a day.
Not only is it a catchy song and fun dance to look at anyway, but the fact that you can surprise other players when they least expect to hear this song is just too good of an opportunity to miss out on. And fortunately, this emote comes back quite often so you don’t have to worry about never getting your hands on it.
3. Charging Up
Charging up all the power that your body can handle is always a dramatic yet fun thing to do. And it looks just as cool in Fortnite, especially when you’re in the lobby right before a match begins. In the virtual world, you can see it just like stretching before doing something physically demanding in real life.
Of course, let’s not forget that even though it fits every character – it originates from the Dragon Ball franchise. So, if you’re a fan, then we’re sure that this is already in your top 10 best Fortnite emotes. And if you do have a Goku or Vegeta skin, this emote ends up giving you golden hair too – which is undoubtedly a major plus to have.
4. Swag Shot
Going to jail is not that great of an experience – but getting a good mugshot is something that’s on a lot of our bucket lists, though preferably a fake one. The “Guilty of Sweatin” emote fits so perfectly within Fortnite that it makes us wonder why they took so long to add it to begin with.
It instantly pulls up a height chart behind the player and then they first get a picture taken, and then throw the sign away with the perfect amount of swagger. You can use this after getting a victory royale, or if you end up thirsting a downed player because that’s what sweating is all about.
5. Imperial March
Star Wars and Fortnite collaborate more often than you may realize, especially on the May of every recent year. And that comes with a lot of skins, items, and emotes. In our opinion, Imperial March is among the best ones because it just looks so cool. No matter what character you use, this emote makes them put on a serious face and traverse in style. And yes, you do in fact move forward – not just walk in the same spot.
On top of that, as the name implies, you can hear Darth Vader’s iconic theme too while using this emote. So, for those who have a Darth Vader or Anakin skin – this emote is even more special.
6. Toasty Roast
What’s better than roasting marshmallows on a comfortable fire? Doing it with a friend. The Toasty Roast emote sets you up on a cozy chair and gives you a bunch of marshmallows to roast. Which works perfectly at times of waiting, whether it’s in the lobby or when using a Shield Keg.
If your friends are next to you, then they can join in on the fire too. And if more than one friend has this emote, you can create a party of four by using it twice. With the right angle, it looks like the wood is merged and then there’s four friends sitting together on a chair, eating marshmallows together. Or burning them to waste, anyway.
7. Get Griddy
This list would be incomplete without the mention of the Get Griddy dancing emote. After all, it’s one of the most famous Fortnite emotes due to how much it’s used. And it’s often used as a litmus test of how ridiculous an iconic licensed character looks in the game.
If you’ve been on social media long enough, then you must have seen at least one meme of Goku hitting the griddy after shooting someone with a gun. And that’s why people eagerly wait for it to come back to the Item Shop if they lacked the V-Bucks for it before.
8. Lil' Warthog
The Halo franchise has a lot of cool things to offer. And it is amazing how things that other games have too still feel different in the Halo games thanks to its futuristic sci-fi design, such as shields, guns, plasma swords, and even vehicles.
When Master Chief came to Fortnite, we would have expected to see warthogs on the map that we can drive. But surprisingly, we got the Lil’ Warthog emote which lets us drive a hilariously small version of the iconic vehicle. You can’t hurt anyone with it and it’s not fast either. But hey, it’s a warthog and you’re more or less driving it.
9. Party Hips
Party Hips is one of the most popular Fortnite emotes, and that is for reasons not all of us are proud of. The music that plays with it is pretty catchy, and the dancing animation is good too since your characters become quite expressive when using it.
But of course, this emote is wildly popular because it highlights certain… attributes of your characters – not because the dance is great or that it’s flashy. If we didn’t include it here, that would be like not talking about Luke Skywalker when discussing Star Wars.
10. Crowning Achievement
Getting a Victory Royale in Fortnite takes a fair amount of effort if you’re not an expert of gunplay/building. And then getting the Crown Royale, which requires the player to have an existing crown when winning the match – is even harder. So, things that take so much effort, at least for a casual player, do deserve a reward.
And that comes in the face of the Crowning Achievement emote, which lets players show off how many Crown Royales they have earned in the season. It’s loved by many since it’s a nice way to show off, especially when you win a match. But many hate it too because it feels too smug and a little toxic.
However, that can apply to many emotes anyway because someone doing a specific dance when you lose to them can look toxic too – whereas normally it wouldn’t. So, it’s up to your interpretation.
…okay, maybe we could’ve done without the nail-blowing in the end.
That’s it for our list of the top 10 best Fortnite dances and emotes. We hope that you agree with the list and can spot some of your favorites. Though of course, there are so many good emotes to choose from that we’ve left out many that we love ourselves.
