Deadlock Setups

As a deadlock, you are the team’s hope on the defensive side. While the agent is still relatively new, there are endless things you can do to place a lot of impact on any opponent coming your way. With the perfect setups and correct timings, you can be the change in the outcome of the game. Here are the best deadlock setups:

A Site

What Does It Cover: This setup on A site will definitely elevate your defense line as it hits any enemy trying to cross from A main to site. It will leave ramps completely open though.

When To Use It: Best used in scenarios where enemies perform hard executes on the site, so by placing your setup accordingly, you will be able to counter players much more easily.

Why Is It Special: Best part about this setup is how easy it is to trap enemies and get frags off the utility you had placed.

To do it, place your wall on A main and then follow it up with a sound sensor close to the wall. Then, place another sound sensor next to elbow to cover your back from extending enemies.

Mid

What Does It Cover: This deadlock setup is quite simple yet very effective towards mid on Split. Simply place your utility to cover up the choke point and you’ll be able to block off anyone and earn easy frags.

When To Use It: Best used in scenarios where you know enemies are going to push mid or in an eco round as holding down mid with a shotgun and this setup can be deadly to anyone trying to cross.

Why Is It Special: This setup is more aimed to get frags, by using your nade you will create a lethal combo which can help you on these rounds.

Simply place your wall to block off mid and a sound sensor on the metal box, then hold your nade and wait out to throw it when needed.

B Site

What Does It Cover: This setup on B site is quite deadly as it will heavily block anyone from crossing B main to site. It focuses on punishing enemies on 2 phases, one in front of Garage and one in pillar mid site.

When To Use It: Best used when you are playing B site in an anchor position.

Why Is It Special: This setup rewards timing and playing from back site can make it a lot better for you to earn kills in B site split.

Simply place your wall and sound sensors on B main & Pillar and then wait on back site with your grenade to throw it and peek off your utility’s contact.

B Site - Retake

What Does It Cover: This setup on B site will most definitely cause your teammates to ALT F4 and stop playing the game. It is not aimed to stop them from crossing B main but rather lock them in site.

When To Use It: This setup is best paired with a team nade or an area effect piece of utility as it will help you “lock” enemies in their place.

Why Is It Special: Best part about this setup is the ability to just play for your life or play for retake as it doesn’t necessarily involve you peeking too deep.

Simply place your wall in the middle of site, follow it up by a sound sensor behind your back and one next to the wall. With a net nade and a raze nade, you more likely would win the round.

Pro Tips

  • Remember that using your wall ability, each section can be broken separately and it can be done in less time than breaking it all at once. This means enemies can break one section quickly to pass through, being aware of this helps you predict upcoming danger.

  • The audio sensor activates whenever a player produces an audio cue, this means if you place it for flank and enemies shift or slowly walk through it they will be completely undetected. Deadlock is weak when it comes to setting traps for flank as it can get dodged.

  • GravNet (C) which is the ability that allows you to force crouch enemies can be canceled in some circumstances like an Omen teleporting or such. Don’t expect enemies to stay crouched after casting a certain ability.

  • Enemies can easily dodge the sound sensors when they know where it is placed on site, meaning you should always re-arrange your setups and add your touch to the given setups in order to maximize the agent’s efficiency.

  • Deadlock’s ultimate can bounce off walls to get to a desired position, so in case you had an enemy running away from you make sure to try and hunt them down with an ultimate trick shot!

  • A common use for Deadlock’s ultimate is to enable it and not shoot it until you see the enemy. Usually with the range of the ability you can secure the kill even after being vulnerable for a few seconds after launching it.

  • To properly secure holding sites, make sure you are buying the correct loadout for the purpose you are aiming for in a certain round. If you are going for kills, then place your sound sensors in cheeky spots and peek off them.

  • The sound sensor can be tricked just like the killjoy turret and chamber trip, if you hear it alerted that doesn’t mean it launched or caught an enemy as they can simply retreat and hold your peek.
