EA Sports WRC is gearing up for a significant update as Codemasters announced a new Virtual Reality (VR) mode for its PC version. Starting April 30, players can dive into the rally world with a free beta patch enabling VR compatibility.

This update allows VR support across all single and multiplayer modes. Compatible devices include Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Valve Index, Oculus Rift S, Oculus CV1, and HTC Vive. This makes EA Sports WRC the first officially licensed FIA World Rally Championship game to include a VR feature.

Creative director Matthew Battison shared his enthusiasm about the update. "We are excited about introducing VR. It lets players experience the rallies firsthand from the driver’s perspective, immersing them in the challenging WRC environment," he said. Players can expect to feel the thrill of high speeds and gravity-defying jumps on various surfaces, from tarmac to gravel and snow, all within detailed environments of eighteen different locations.

Currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, there’s no word yet on whether PlayStation VR2 support for the PlayStation 5 version will be added later.
