Hytale Modder Runs Windows 95 Inside the Game
Hytale has only just entered Early Access, but the modding scene is already moving fast. The sandbox RPG launched last Tuesday, pulled in around 2.8 million players on day one, and quickly became the most-watched game on Twitch.
With a powerful creator toolset and heavy community interest, modders are already pushing the game far beyond normal expectations.
Windows 95 Running Inside Hytale
One standout project comes from engineer Sadat Sahib, also known online as iamcxv7. He managed to get Windows 95 running inside Hytale itself.
Footage shared online shows the operating system booting and running without major issues. Interaction appears slow, though that is likely due to using a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. With proper PC controls, the setup could feel much smoother.
The project highlights just how flexible Hytale’s systems already are.

Windows 95 is not the only unusual experiment. Sahib also pulled off an even stranger result by running Hytale inside Hytale. The setup looks complex, but it works, creating a layered version of the game operating within itself.
This type of experiment has become a running joke in tech and gaming spaces, where the goal is often to see just how far software can be pushed.
Minecraft Also Makes an Appearance
The same modder has also managed to run Minecraft inside Hytale. For many, that feels symbolic, given how closely Hytale is often compared to Minecraft.
Some have already started calling Hytale a next step for the sandbox genre, thanks to its built-in tools and deep customization options.
A Strong Start for Hytale
All of this has happened within the first week of Early Access. That pace suggests the modding scene is only getting started.
Hytale was created by the Hypixel team, with development roots going back to 2015. The project faced multiple delays and was even canceled in mid-2025 before being revived by its original creator.
Now back in players’ hands, Hytale is already showing signs of becoming one of the most creative platforms of 2026.
