Pokémon GO Fall Marathon Timed Research: Tasks, Rewards, and Spawns Guide

Autumn athletic season has arrived in Pokémon GO with the launch of the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event. Challenging trainers to log distance with their buddies, this seasonal activation features extensive XP rewards, the long-awaited debut of Bramblin and Brambleghast, and free access to the Fall Marathon Timed Research quest line.

The event concludes on Monday, October 19, at 8:00 PM local time. Here is your complete roadmap to finish all distance milestones and capitalize on featured spawns like Cacnea and Blitzle.

Fall Marathon Timed Research Tasks & Rewards

The free Timed Research quest challenges trainers to explore standard road race distances:

• Explore 5 km: 4,200 XP

• Explore 10 km: 4,200 XP

• Explore 21 km (Half Marathon distance): 4,200 XP

• Explore 42 km (Full Marathon distance): 4,200 XP

• Final Completion Encounter: Exclusive encounter with Marathon Visor Pikachu (with Shiny availability).

Pro Tip: Enable Adventure Sync in your device settings to guarantee all distance walked throughout the day tracks accurately even while Pokémon GO remains closed.

Featured Spawns and Cacnea Evolution Spotlight

Throughout the Buddy Trek window, several running-themed and seasonal Pokémon appear with heightened frequency in the wild:

• Wild Spawns: Cacnea, Blitzle, Doduo, Electrike, Ponyta, Stantler, and Skarmory.

• Cacnea Evolution & Utility: Players searching for Cacnea evolution info need 50 Cacnea Candy to evolve Cacnea into Cacturne (Grass/Dark). While Cacturne remains a niche choice in Open Great League due to low defensive stats, its heavy attack power makes it a budget grass raider for newer accounts. Take advantage of increased spawns and Pinap Berries during the marathon to stock up on candy.

Debuts: Bramblin and Mega Manectric Super Max

• Bramblin & Brambleghast: The tumbleweed Pokémon makes its official debut. To evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast, make Bramblin your buddy and explore 10 km on foot.

• Discharge+ Mega Manectric: Mega Evolving Manectric unlocks Discharge+, dealing 50 Power across both Gym/Raids and Trainer Battles.

Make sure to claim all Timed Research rewards from your 'Today' tab before the 8:00 PM deadline on October 19!
