How Radianite Points Work in Valorant
If you have Radianite Points lying around and do not know what to use them on, this article is for you. Let us dive deeper into how Radianite Points work in Valorant and how to acquire them.
How Radianite Points work in Valorant
In-game cosmetics like weapon skins are a great way to enjoy your favorite games even more. This is no exception to Valorant as well. Valorant features some of the best weapon cosmetics out there, with well-polished animations and artistic designs. However, players tend to have a love-hate relationship with the game and the developers when it comes to skins, as they sometimes get really expensive. This is because after you buy the base skin for a ridiculous amount, you still need more of the secondary currency in the game, “Radianite Points,” to unlock the full potential of the skin.
What are Radianite Points?
Most of today’s games with in-game stores have their very own in-game currencies. While some of them have only a single currency, most of them have multiple currencies. Valorant also has 2 active in-game currencies that serve different purposes. Apart from the main currency “Valorant Points (VP),” the game also includes a secondary currency called “Radianite Points (RP).” While the main currency, Valorant Points, allows you to buy almost anything in-game including weapon skins to agents, Radianite Points serve a more specific purpose.
Radianite Points are currently used to upgrade or evolve certain weapon skins. These upgrades are purely visual and do not increase the stats of any gun. Some weapon skins come with additional visual effects, sound effects, and other special animations. However, these additional effects are locked on the base skin you buy with Valorant Points and have to be bought/unlocked separately using Radianite Points. While this secondary currency does not appeal to many players that rarely buy skins, Radianite Points are extremely valuable to more frequent skin buyers. So if you are one of them, how exactly do you earn Radianite points?
How do you get Radianite Points?
There are a couple of ways you can acquire Radianite Points; you either buy them with Valorant Points or earn them through the battle pass. However, buying RP directly using Valorant Points can be expensive. The conversion rate for RP is shown below:
- 20 Radianite Points = 1,600 Valorant Points (approximately $15 USD).
- 40 Radianite Points = 2,800 Valorant Points (approximately $25 USD).
- 80 Radianite Points = 4,800 Valorant Points (approximately $45 USD).
Apart from that, you can also earn RP by simply completing the battle pass each act. Each battle pass gives you around 50 Radianite Points for free if you complete it. You can earn even more RP if you simply go ahead and purchase the battle pass.
How to upgrade weapon skins using Radianite Points?
When you have enough skins, you should be able to upgrade some skins to unlock all their special effects and animations. However, you need to own the skin before you spend RP on it. Some of the most famous skin lines with upgradable effects are Prime, Elderflame, Glitchpop, Origin, RGX 11z Pro, etc. Each upgrade usually costs around 10 RP to 15 RP. If you have enough Radianite Points and a weapon skin with unlockable upgrades, here is how you go ahead and upgrade it:
- Head over to your collection and navigate to the specific skin you wish to upgrade.
- On the left side of the screen, you will find the upgrades available for the skin.
- You can hover over the upgrade tabs for a preview before you upgrade them.
- Go ahead and buy the upgrade using RP.
- If the skin has additional variants, you can see them on top of the upgrade tabs with their relevant color schemes.
- You are all set, and now you can show off your flashy skins in-game.
Looking at the history of skins in Valorant, it is inevitable that more unique and more appealing skins will eventually come to the game. So it is a good practice to save up Radianite Points by only spending them on the most important upgrades to you.
Is there anything else you can do with Radianite Points?
Unfortunately, the game currently does not feature any other items or cosmetics you can acquire through Radianite Points. Nevertheless, back in 2020, a Riot dev stated that Radianite Points will eventually become more useful with more stuff to unlock and upgrade. Riot Revenue Lead, Joe Lee explained, “Our plan is to have Radianite Points become the evolving currency of VALORANT. So as we develop new features, we hope you’ll be able to use it to buy more Gun Buddies, upgrade Player Cards and Sprays in addition to what is currently just weapon skins.”
However, Riot has still not introduced any of these RP-specific content even though it has been 2 years already. Players and fans can only wait patiently and hope that Riot will introduce these RP unlockable Gun Buddies, Sprays, and Player Cards eventually in the near future.
