VALORANT is one of the mainstream esports games, hosting millions of views all around the globe with each international event. It goes without saying, that the game is incredibly competitive at the highest levels of play, so that even minor disadvantages can turn the results of a game.

TenZ is one of the pro players who started giving his opinion on the practice PCs used by Riot at these big events, which were really bad and not acceptable to play on. Not only do they have issues, but they also never match the monitor's hz in terms of FPS which is very important for many pros.

So, What Happened?

At Masters Bangkok, EDG Vs Team Liquid an issue was raised during a long tech-pause. One of EDG's players was having issues with their mouse not running well on the computer causing lag and different issues.

The conclusion of that Technical Pause was to have the play switch to a different, wired mouse. This is wrong for so many reasons, one being at such a high level players cannot risk playing on unfamiliar equipment but many more goes to saying about this.

It also appears that this is not the only time Riot have fell short when it came to providing good equipment for players, as many other commented under the post talking about their own experiences.

For example soulcas mentions playing on lower than 100 fps during one of his matches, which appeared to be a bugged PC. Playing on such low framrate in big events is unacceptable.

The issue with the higher mouse polling rate / wireless mice is persistent as it seems other players shared that in various events.

What will Riot do?

The head of Esports, Leo Faria, responded shortly after these issues have been brought to light. Here is what he said:

Leo mentions Riot's plan of deploying new equipment to all their event stages and practice rooms. He says, that the mouse issue is not directly tied to the PCs but rather because of having too much equipment on site that assist in recording and else during the matches.

He also mentioned that the entire fleet will be live later this year, he seals his statement saying "We're on it" to assure players that they should be able to play however they want with no restrictions.

It is good to see that Riot is already taking care of the issue which leaves us to look forward to how they tackle it.
