VCT 2026: New Formats, Global Events, and a Path to Champions

As the 2025 season nears its finale, details for the next chapter of VALORANT esports are set. The 2026 season brings more global events, updated formats, and a groundbreaking opportunity for Challengers teams aiming for the Champions trophy.
Global Events Across Three Continents
VCT 2026 will expand its global footprint, hosting major events on three continents:
-
Masters Santiago: The first VCT global event in LATAM, marking Riot’s return to South America since LOCK//IN.
-
Masters London: The UK will host an international VALORANT event for the first time.
-
Champions Shanghai: The world’s biggest stage, where the next VALORANT World Champion will be crowned.
Evolving Formats
Competition in 2026 will feature adjustments across all levels:
-
Kickoff: A new Triple Elimination format, with the top three teams advancing to Masters Santiago.
-
Masters: Expanded to 12 teams, increasing matches, stakes, and Championship Points.
-
Regular Season: A shift from groups to equal match counts for all teams, ensuring fair qualification for playoffs.
Stage 2 Playoffs on Tour
Stage 2 Playoffs finals will become destination events across all leagues, with new host cities spotlighting the most critical matches of the season. VCT CN will embark on an ambitious tour, visiting five cities throughout 2026.
Challengers Path to Champions
For the first time, Challengers teams will have a direct route to Champions. Each International League will send four teams from Stage 2 Playoffs, with travel stipends provided.
Long-term performance will be rewarded with points, and teams reaching Champions will earn meaningful rewards, including digital revenue shares.
From Premier to Champions
The journey begins in Ranked, with players able to qualify through Premier Invite Division or regional Qualifiers.
Success leads to promotion into local Challenger Leagues, with victories there granting entry into the Path to Champions. Region-specific details will follow later in the year.
