GTA 6 Delay Concerns Grow as Development Continues

Concerns are growing around another possible delay for GTA 6. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has suggested that Rockstar Games may still be deep in development, even with a planned release date set for late 2026.
GTA 6 was officially revealed in December 2023 with a 2025 launch window. Since then, the game has already slipped twice. The release date first moved to May 26, 2026, then again to November 19, 2026.
Now, new comments are raising doubts about that timeline holding firm.
Reports Say GTA 6 Is Still Not Content Complete
According to Jason Schreier, GTA 6 is still not content complete. That means missions and gameplay elements are still being worked on, and some features may not be locked in yet.
While speaking on the Button Mash podcast, Schreier shared that developers close to the project are still finishing levels and missions.

Some parts of the game are still being finalized, with the hope that development will wrap up soon so the team can focus fully on bug fixes.
This goes against claims from other insiders, so the information should be taken carefully.
Hitting November 2026 Is Not Guaranteed
Schreier explained that predicting the November 2026 release is difficult right now. From what has been heard, even Rockstar staff may not be fully confident about hitting that date.
The pressure is massive. GTA 6 is expected to be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, and Rockstar is known for avoiding rushed releases. The studio reportedly wants the game to ship in the best shape possible, without cutting corners.
Because of that, a delay into 2027 is still on the table if development needs more time.
Rockstar Silence Adds to Uncertainty
The last official update on GTA 6 came on May 6, 2025, when Rockstar released the second trailer along with screenshots and small details on its website. Since then, there has been no new information.
Recent Rockstar layoffs have also added to the uncertainty. Reports suggest remaining developers have been worried about another delay following those changes.
