Will Riot Buff Clove?

Valorant’s ongoing roster updates have included several Agents, with Coleman Palm explaining the rationale behind recent changes to Clove.

According to Palm, Clove had become “too powerful overall” and required adjustments to maintain balance.

“Clove has been the highest win rate agent in the game by a wide margin, while also being one of the most popular agents to play. Currently, their post-death smoke provides very consistent value with too little room for counterplay,” Palm said.

The update reduces Clove’s ability to fully defuse the spike inside their post-death smoke, aiming to encourage more variety among Controller agents.

Balancing Fun and Power

Developers stressed that the tweaks were not intended to make Clove less enjoyable. Fans had voiced concerns about the character becoming “boring” after the nerfs.

The team aims to strike a balance between competitive viability and player enjoyment while ensuring no single Agent dominates gameplay.

Current Stats and Future Changes

Despite the nerf, Clove remains a top choice among players, with a nearly 54% win rate and high pick rates.

It remains uncertain if further adjustments will be made in upcoming patches, but Riot is actively monitoring balance and engagement to ensure the Agents remain both competitive and fun.
