Valorant Grandma Streams to Fund Daughter’s Headstone

A gaming grandmother known online as GrannyGamingz has shared the emotional reason she returned to streaming Valorant. She is raising money for a headstone for her daughter, Brooke, who died in 2023.

GrannyGamingz has built a small but loyal community on YouTube, with more than 3,000 subscribers and over 240 videos. Many of her recent uploads are long Valorant streams, often focused on her goal of climbing from Gold to Platinum.

Her story began spreading after viewers found a YouTube community post where she explained that Brooke was the reason she started streaming in the first place.

Brooke Encouraged Her Mother to Stream

In the post, GrannyGamingz said Brooke encouraged her to try streaming around 2022 or 2023. According to her, Brooke believed people would enjoy watching her because there was “nobody like me,” and also felt her mother could handle the negative side of being online.

GrannyGamingz said she was hesitant at first, but eventually agreed and was surprised when people actually started watching.

She also opened up about Brooke’s health struggles. Brooke had serious medical issues and received a second kidney transplant in October 2022. GrannyGamingz said complications followed, and Brooke later developed lymphoma before dying in July 2023.

GrannyGamingz has also claimed that the hospital treating Brooke missed her cancer and that delays meant it was found too late. These claims have not been independently verified.

Returning to Valorant for Brooke

After Brooke’s death, GrannyGamingz said she never thought she would play Valorant again without her “gaming buddy.” However, she returned to streaming in November 2025 with a new goal: raising money for Brooke’s headstone.

She said any money made through Twitch has been placed into a savings account and has not been touched.
