Valorant Cheating Reports Rise And Riot Responds

Valorant players have been raising concerns about a noticeable increase in suspected cheaters, especially in higher-level matches. Over the past week, several players have claimed that ranked games feel less secure, with more suspicious accounts appearing in competitive lobbies.

Cheating remains one of the biggest challenges in online multiplayer games. Even when developers shut down cheat providers or ban large numbers of accounts, new methods often appear shortly after.

For Riot Games, Valorant’s Vanguard system has long been a major part of its defense against hackers, but recent complaints have sparked fresh debate about how effective it currently is.

Riot Anti-Cheat Lead Responds to Complaints

The discussion gained more attention after former pro player Subroza criticized Valorant’s anti-cheat performance at higher ranks. He claimed that cheating becomes especially noticeable after new updates, with hackers quickly returning to ranked matches.

Phillip Koskinas, Valorant’s head of anti-cheat, responded to the concerns directly. After reviewing reports, he said that most of the accused players were not actually cheating, although one confirmed cheater had already been banned.

Koskinas also suggested that some suspicious moments involving Subroza may have been linked to stream sniping rather than cheating.

Riot Says Cheat Attempts Have Become More Common

While Riot pushed back on some individual accusations, Koskinas admitted that cheating attempts have increased recently. According to him, bans have roughly doubled per day across many ranks.

He explained that some cheaters are no longer trying to hide their behavior carefully. Instead, they are quickly returning to the game and playing aggressively until they are caught.

Koskinas also pointed to a rise in low-quality or AI-assisted cheat attempts, saying Riot can usually detect and punish them after the fact. However, the increase in attempts has still made the issue more visible to players.

Riot Continues to Ban Valorant Cheaters

Koskinas also reviewed specific Riot IDs shared by players and flagged some accounts during the discussion. His response suggests that Riot is still actively monitoring reports, even if not every suspicious player turns out to be cheating.

The Valorant anti-cheat team has previously said that cheaters are impossible to eliminate completely, but Riot continues to issue bans and improve Vanguard over time.
