As we have been promised, another agent is coming on her way to VALORANT as part of the 3 new agents for the year 2023.
Agent 23, known by the codename Deadlock, will be a female Sentinel that is going to have abilities solely focused on map control. We also know that the agent will be very mobile compared to others in her role, which can add quite the twist to the gameplay.
This new agent’s trailer has been demonstrated for the professional players at VCT Tokyo to take their first impressions, which they were all completely astonished. For all we know, we’re in for a treat, a surprise coming to VALORANT in Sentinel fashion.
One ability that the pros pointed out is “She’s in a tornado” “Or it’s like a coffin” while FNS mentioned that she looks like a “hard ass” that is ready to take over. The best guess is that sort of utility is an area control to gain map advantage or something of that sort.
Scary enough, the professional player Ethan tweeted out about the new agent as he saw the trailer. He stated that this new agent 23 will be incomparable to Astra, Raze, and Chamber in their prime. Indicating that we might face just one of the strongest metas that’s coming to VALORANT so far.
Abilities
Barrier Mesh (E): Equip a Barrier Mesh disk. FIRE to launch forward. When touching the ground, the disk generates barriers from the point of origin that block the movement of the characters.
Sonic Sensor (Q): Equip a Sonic Sensor. FIRE to deploy. The sensor monitors an area for enemies that make sounds. It causes a concussion in that area if footsteps, gunfire, or significant noise are detected.
GravNet (C): Equip a GravNet grenade. FIRE to launch. ALTERNATIVE FIRE to launch the grenade from below. The GravNet explodes when it hits the ground, forcing enemies caught inside it to crouch and move slowly.
Annihilation (X) / Ultimate: Equip a Nanowire Accelerator. FIRE to release a pulse of nanowires that captures the first enemy hit. The captured enemy is pulled along a path of nanowires and will die if they reach the end unless freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.
Aside from her abilities, as Riot described Deadlock, she is indeed stylish. We can see that she looks similar to Killjoy in terms of clothing but have a completely different look as an agent. Which makes things more exciting and diverse.
Her Story
Deadlock’s story comes from her going on a mission in which she had a rough fight and lost her arm. As that happened, she was able to recreate her arm but this time with enhanced abilities that will elevate her power. These new capabilities allowed her to become more powerful and able to control the battlefield with deadly precision.
