How to Join Fortnite Cash Cup Tournaments: A Step-By-Step Guide
Playing video games for fun never gets old. But the fact that you can play video games and earn money at the same time sounds too good to be true. And yet somehow, it really is a possibility and the ways in which you can monetize playing a game are becoming more convenient every day.
Fortnite regularly hosts tournaments that players can participate in. And the best part about them is that most of them can be played from the comfort of your home. It does not matter what part of the world you’re in, or how old you are, or what game mode you like more – there’s a tournament for everyone. And most of them offer a cash prize if you manage to score enough.
So, how do you join these Fortnite Cash Cup tournaments? Fortunately, the process is easier than you may think. And we’ve created a step-by-step guide for you to get started!
How to Join Fortnite Cash Cup Tournaments
The first thing that you need to know is that every tournament requires the activation of 2FA on your Epic Games account. If you haven’t activated two-factor authentication on your account yet, you can do that by going to the Epic Games launcher and clicking on ‘Account’.
This opens a pop up to your browser, which then leads into your Account Settings. There, click on ‘Privacy and Security’ and scroll down until you see the 2FA options.
Once you’re there, you can choose from up to three authentication options. Pick the one you like the most – and then you’re good to go. Now, let’s talk about participating in the tournament itself.
The first thing to do is to launch your game. Once you’re in the lobby, click on the ‘COMPETE’ tab.
Once inside, you'll see a list of ongoing, future and completed Cash Cups. Not every Fortnite tournament has a real cash prize – so you have to look out for those that have that word inside its name. However, it’s still good practice to join non-paid tournaments as well, as it helps you get prepared for the more intense ones.
Keep in mind that some tournaments will only be available to you if you meet certain requirements. You can read those by clicking on ‘Event Details’, which usually includes things like being at a certain Account level in the current season and/or being a player who is in the Contender League.
Fortunately, you can join many Cash Cups without fulfilling the requirement of being a Contender League. So, all you need to do is to make sure that you find the right one and aren’t late for it. And if it’s a duo, trio, or squad Cash Cup – make sure your friends are available at the exact time, as you’ll miss the opportunity otherwise.
Last but not least, make sure you see whether the Cash Cup says ‘ZB’ on it or not. ZB refers to Zero Build, and every Cash Cup that does not contain these initials have building enabled.
Once a tournament is ready for you to join, just open the Playlist and select it from there while being with the squad that you want to play with. Or just by yourself if it’s a solo one, of course.
And that’s everything that you need to know about joining a Cash Cup tournament in Fortnite. If you fail to join one or don’t win it – don’t feel bad. They happen very frequently, and you can join the next one anyway.
Good luck with the tournaments, we’ll see you on the battlefield!
