Rockstar fires 34 employees over GTA 6 leaks as new development details surface

Rockstar Games confirmed that 34 developers were fired after leaking internal comments about the progress of Grand Theft Auto 6.
According to the studio, the leaks involved development timelines and features that could have become major gaming news if released publicly.
Rockstar said it feared the information might have impacted Take Two stock price and damaged the creative process.
The company said confidentiality is at the core of its work. In a statement, Rockstar added that even small leaks can create major financial and creative harm due to the level of global attention on GTA 6.
Three more employees dismissed for April leak
Rockstar also confirmed three additional terminations linked to a leak from April 2025.
One of those employees allegedly shared details with a third party that later published them to social media.

Fans believe this refers to the leak that revealed Jason and Lucia’s full names, which surfaced shortly before the second trailer debuted.
New GTA 6 development info from Jason Schreier
Bloomberg reporter and industry insider Jason Schreier shared new insight into where GTA 6 stands behind the scenes.
Here is what he has heard:
-
The game is not content complete yet
-
The November release window is uncertain and no one inside Rockstar is fully confident
-
This date feels more realistic than Fall 2025 or May 2026
-
Developers are still finishing missions and deciding what makes the cut
-
Bug fixing has not fully begun and hopefully starts once content locks in
-
Rockstar is pushing for perfection because expectations are huge
-
Take Two’s entire business outlook depends heavily on GTA 6
-
The company would delay again rather than launch an unfinished product
-
Take Two’s fiscal year ends late March 2027 which gives a buffer if they still want to release within that window
-
PlayStation is the primary platform and Sony has been planning its lineup around GTA 6
Release date still uncertain
Rockstar has not made the final call on release timing.
With content still being finalized, the title may hit its announced November plan or slip further into 2026 or 2027 depending on progress.
Given the scale of GTA 6 and the financial pressure on Take Two, it appears Rockstar intends to launch only when it is confident the game is truly ready.
