This announcement suggests that the upcoming title may not be The Last of Us Part 3, indicating a fresh direction for the series. The revelation aligns with comments from Jeffrey Pierce, the voice of Tommy, who mentioned in December 2023 that a script for The Last of Us Part 3 was not yet in place.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered, which features technical enhancements and the new 'No Return' mode, described by Naughty Dog as "stressful." This news comes as a consolation for fans disappointed by the cancellation of The Last of Us Online, a multiplayer game deemed too resource-intensive by Naughty Dog.
