Riot Games and Moonton Games Settle IP Dispute

Riot Games and Moonton Games have finally resolved their long-standing intellectual property dispute, ending years of legal battles. The conflict began in 2017 when Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, accused Moonton Games of copying aspects of their games in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

The initial lawsuit was dismissed in the U.S. due to jurisdictional issues, directing the matter to Chinese courts instead. Despite these challenges, Riot Games pursued another lawsuit in 2022, which was also dismissed by a California court.

The recent settlement, details of which remain undisclosed, marks the end of this dispute, with Riot Games withdrawing all lawsuits against Moonton Games. This resolution allows both companies to move past their legal issues and focus on future developments.

Riot Games, established in 2006, is renowned for creating League of Legends and has since expanded its portfolio to include other titles like Wild Rift and Valorant. Moonton Games, known for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, has made a significant impact in the mobile gaming sector since its foundation in 2014. Both parties reaching a settlement signals a positive step forward for the gaming industry, emphasizing the importance of resolving intellectual property disputes amicably.
