VCT EMEA Tech Issues: New PCs, Player Tests, and When Matches Are Coming Back

If you've been following VCT EMEA lately, you probably noticed things haven't exactly been running smoothly.
After the show got postponed last Friday, Riot’s team has been working nonstop behind the scenes to fix the tech problems that hit Stage 1. They’ve made some big moves, including bringing in brand-new PCs to replace the ones on stage. Right now, those updated setups are either already at the studio or on the way, and testing is happening as we speak.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what Riot’s doing:
-
Updated PCs: New machines from the U.S. and Europe are in transit. Once they arrive, the old PCs on stage are getting swapped out.
-
Internal Riot Playtest: Scheduled for April 29. Riot’s own team will be doing full match-length tests to make sure everything’s working properly.
-
Pro Player Playtest: Happening April 30. Selected VCT pros will jump in and stress-test the new setup, giving feedback and helping spot any issues early.
-
Server and PC Interaction Audit: From April 28–30, Riot’s taking a close look at both online and offline server logs to catch any weird behavior between the PCs and the game server.
When are matches coming back?
If everything checks out, we should see offline matches return later this week — in the arena, on the new PCs. Live audience attendance will also kick back in for playoffs, starting May 8.
What about the fans who showed up on April 24?
Riot’s not leaving you hanging. They’re giving out some serious compensation:
-
A ticket to the VCT Champions Grand Finals
-
Two tickets to VCT EMEA
-
A €300 Riot Games merch voucher
-
A Riot Gun Buddy
If you were there last Friday, keep an eye on your email — the details should already be in your inbox.
Riot made it super clear: no more excuses, just results. They know it’s on them to fix this, and with the new PCs and a full system check during these “dark days,” they’re determined to get VCT EMEA back on track.
