Shroud Says Hytale Will Not Be Worth Playing for Two Years

Twitch star Mike Grzesiek, better known as Shroud, has made it clear that Hytale is not on his radar anytime soon. According to him, the game needs at least two more years before it reaches a playable state.
Hytale has been in development for a very long time. The sandbox game was first revealed back in 2015 by the creators of the popular Minecraft server Hypixel. Since then, it has gone through multiple delays, major changes, and even a period where it was canceled after being picked up by
Riot Games.
Despite all that, Hytale finally entered Early Access on January 14, 2026.
Early Access Launch Draws Huge Attention
Since its Early Access release, Hytale has quickly become one of the most-watched games on Twitch. Many variety streamers have been trying it out, giving the long-awaited project a chance.
Shroud, however, is choosing to sit this one out.
Shroud Explains His Decision
While streaming, Shroud was asked directly by a viewer if Hytale was something he planned to play soon. His answer was immediate and blunt.
He said the game might be worth checking out in about two years. While he acknowledged that Hytale has a strong foundation, he believes it is far from ready in its current state.
Shroud has mainly been spending his time playing ARC Raiders over the past few months, and Hytale does not seem to fit into his plans right now.
Developers Acknowledge a Rough Start
Hytale is still very early in its development cycle, and problems are expected. Some players have already reported crashes and technical issues while exploring the game.
The developers have openly admitted that the Early Access period will be bumpy. To help improve stability, they are offering more than $25,000 in bug bounties for players who discover serious issues or exploits.
According to the team, the payout depends on how severe the bug is, with a focus on authentication issues and client or server exploits.
A Long Road Ahead
The developers also explained that they only regained control of Hytale about two months before launch. That short timeframe was spent rebuilding the team and preparing the game for release.
