Defending Side
A Site
This setup on A site is annoying enough that you can rotate to B afterwards; you will make sure no one is going to push your site again. Here’s what to do:
Place your wall on Main, and only do that when you hear steps to or after waiting a few seconds.
Place a sensor trip right at main to isolate enemies from their duelist in case they dash forward.
Place your second sound sensor to your right as you play back site this gives you security ensuring that you can punish enemies who walk up close to you.
B Site
Over to B site, deadlock is still unmatched. One of the rare sentinels where any site can work good for you, so you’re not limited to one or two setups. Here’s what to do on B site:
Place your wall next to main, but throw it further to the right. This ensures that the core of the wall is hidden, making it harder to shoot at without being hardly exposed. Add to it a smoke, it’s no easy task.
Place both of your sound sensors one on Danger walk up, this is to punish enemies if they jump from that spot and the second towards the wall so that if you get hard pushed you can fight either left or right side.
Attacking Side
A Site
On attack, you as a sentinel have nothing to hold flank. You could suggest sound sensor, but that is often useless as enemies can just shift through it. So let’s show you how to utilize yourself best as an aggressive sentinel:
Throw your net on back site, this will help your duelists get easy kills every time they walk up or dash through.
Place your wall on heaven, as it is the most important part to close off on post plant.
Place one sound sensor on the spike, as a last resort post plant scenario and another anywhere you’d like but we suggest towards back site.
B Site
On B it’s no different, you will not be placing anything for flank. But, you can definitely assist your teammates to demolish anyone on site:
Place your wall towards CT, this disallows enemies from walking out and isolates heaven retakers
At the beginning of the execute, throw your net on back site or heaven if you see it fit, this will ensure you can walk up with ease
Place one sound sensor on spike and the other on the opposite side. This is because you’ll be playing main, watching flank, and if you want to punish enemies off the sensors these are the best angles to do so.
Pro Tips
- Remember that using your wall ability, each section can be broken separately and it can be done in less time than breaking it all at once. This means enemies can break one section quickly to pass through, being aware of this helps you predict upcoming danger.
- The audio sensor activates whenever a player produces an audio cue, this means if you place it for flank and enemies shift or slowly walk through it they will be completely undetected. Deadlock is weak when it comes to setting traps for flank as it can get dodged.
- GravNet (C) which is the ability that allows you to force crouch enemies can be canceled in some circumstances like an Omen teleporting or such. Don’t expect enemies to stay crouched after casting a certain ability.
- Enemies can easily dodge the sound sensors when they know where it is placed on site, meaning you should always re-arrange your setups and add your touch to the given setups in order to maximize the agent’s efficiency.
- Deadlock’s ultimate can bounce off walls to get to a desired position, so in case you had an enemy running away from you make sure to try and hunt them down with an ultimate trick shot!
- A common use for Deadlock’s ultimate in post plant one versus one is to enable it and not shoot it until you see the enemy.Usually with the range of the ability you can secure the kill even after being vulnerable for a few seconds after launching it.
- To properly secure holding sites, make sure you are buying the correct loadout for the purpose you are aiming for in a certain round. If you are going for kills, then place your sound sensors in cheeky spots and peek off them.
- The sound sensor can be tricked just like the killjoy turret and chamber trip, if you hear it alerted that doesn’t mean it launched or caught an enemy as they can simply retreat and hold your peek.
