Killjoy Setups - Attacking Side

While Killjoy is often associated with defensive playstyles, she can also be a valuable asset for the attacking team on this map. With her unique abilities, Killjoy can help control areas of the map and create opportunities for her team to push towards the enemy's territory. Especially when it comes to lurking which is commonly known as “rat gameplay” but yet one of the most effective ways to manipulate your attacking side. We will show you the best ways you can use Killjoy on Ascent Attack:

A Site:

When we are talking about Killjoy on the attacking side, we’re most likely referring to a way you can “lurk” and manipulate the outcome of the round as a sentinel. Now there are two ways to lurk, you can either fast lurk which is to instantly push after your teammates make a presence in the planned site, or late lurk which is when you wait to ensure no enemies are holding you. 

In this particular setup, you would need to walk up from short into A site. Start by placing your turret on top of the box on top mid, then start your way on Cat Walk into A short. 

Make sure to place an alarm bot behind you on Cat Walk to have information on any flanks or rotations coming to Short. After that, just run into site or throw your mollies there to play post plant with time. 

B Site:

When it comes to attacking B site, you will be heading into Market instead of Short. For that, start by placing your turret on top of the wall on Mid Link to gain sight of anyone on A short. You can either place it on the left or right wall depending on how far do you want enemies to walk before being spotted. 

Then, start lurking towards mid while placing an alarm bot on Market - CT link. This will cover anyone coming after you from CT. 

From there you can get the kills, possibly throw your mollies on site. 

Pro Tip: You don’t need to find a pixel perfect lineup to play postplant with your mollies, killjoy mollies go through walls so all you need to do is to get it around the spike. 

Mid:

Mid Control is very important on a map like Ascent. Here’s how you can obtain that being a sentinel. Yes, it isn’t your job to entry or take control of spaces, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use your utility to achieve that when it comes down to it. 

Firstly, place your turret to watch A short just like you did previously. 

Then walk up and throw mollies on CT and Market peek. This will make sure nobody can peek you when they’re activated. Activate them at your own pace. 

Then, you can use a little trick, placing an alarm bot next to pizza just to clear it without peeking. If it does, and you activate those mollies, you pretty much isolate a 1v1 at that spot. 

Killjoy Setups - Defending Side

With Killjoy’s unique kit of abilities, she is a valuable asset for any team looking to defend key areas of the map. Her skills allow her to set up traps and control areas of the map, making it difficult for the enemy team to push forward. But you can only do so much when you’re lacking knowledge as to how to place your utility right, so here are the best killjoy setups to defend your site on Ascent:

A Site:

There are way too many ways to defend A site. This is one of the most efficient ways to do so

Likely, enemies will try to set up a lurk or split push that will go towards A short as well. This setup will help you block any A short push. 

Place an alarm bot next to A short and two swamp grenades (molly) in the pattern shown. As soon as it the bot is triggered activate your mollies and enjoy you free kill(s)

Don’t forget to place a turret on top of the box on A site which will give you information on both short and main when they push out of site. 

Alternatively, you can hold down A site and ignore short if you’re willing to do so. 

Start by placing your turret on top of the wooden box to get early contact against those who are playing A main. Then place an alarm bot next to A main and two mollies right next to eachother, you can switch it up to be in front of eachother but enemies are likely to jump into corners to avoid damage so this can trick them.

B Site:

For B site, it is quite easy to defend as long as you’re aware of how attackers may approach you. 

Starting with this setup, all you need to do is place your turret at the end of lane and a molly on B main to activate on the turret’s contact. 

Then on Mid, place a molly with an alarm bot next to it to also cover market as it’s crucial to your site. 

If you’re full on sure that you need to take care of B site only, here’s the setup for you. 

Place an alarm bot with 2 mollies covering the path to Lane and a turret on top of CT to catch enemies as soon as they peek from B main. 

Killjoy Setups - Attack Ultimate Spots

One of Killjoy’s key abilities is her ultimate which allows her to force enemies out to obtain control and space. Her ultimate is superior when taking a site, It is a free card to plant the spike in most cases. However, you do need to consider where you are going to place your ultimate as it has a certain range which if placed improperly will not benefit you as much. Here are the most common ultimate spots for killjoy on the attacking side:

A Site:

This is the perfect ultimate for A site, in which you might as well get a free kill. 

Place it on A cubby and it will cover the entirety of site and short with the exception of the right side of A Heaven. 

And this is where you can get your free kills, you can either find a lineup or just peek and throw your molly on A heaven right side and that will push enemies to either get caught or die in your molly. 

B Site:

When it comes to B site, it is a perfect spot for your killjoy ultimate. Place your ult on top of the boxes right where the orb is on B main or in front of it to avoid wallbangs and wait for it to force every defenders outside. 

This ultimate will cover every bit of site with a large portion of Market and some of CT.
