Helldivers 2 Boosts Server Capacity to Get More Players After Weeks of Connectivity Struggles

After weeks of facing challenges due to its sudden rise in popularity, Helldivers 2 has finally increased its server capacity. This change allows more players to join the battle for democracy. The game's server capacity was expanded two weeks after its launch, a move that has been eagerly awaited by its player base.

The CEO of Arrowhead, the game's developer, announced the good news on February 22. He explained that after several days of hard work, the team managed to increase the server capacity. He assured players that they should now be able to get past the login screen without issues. However, he also warned that a cap still exists, and if too many players log in simultaneously, issues might arise again.

Despite the increase, the CEO hinted that the game might reach its capacity again soon. He mentioned that they are cautiously raising the cap to avoid any system breakdowns. Helldivers 2's success was unexpected, even to its developers and Sony. The original game peaked at fewer than 10,000 concurrent players, but the sequel quickly surpassed this, reaching over 450,000 concurrent players on PC, with more on PlayStation.

This massive influx of players initially overwhelmed the servers, leading to a cap of 450,000 concurrent players. To maintain their server spots, some players even left their games running idle overnight. However, with the recent update and increased server capacity, such measures should no longer be necessary.

The exact new server cap has not been disclosed, but the team promises to keep players updated on any further changes.
