Gekko Molly Lineups

Gekko’s Molly is unique as opposed to other abilities of a similar kind in the game. It is not for instant damage, but more for area control. Anyone staying in the molly will instantly die rewarding you with the kill. However, it doesn’t deal damage to anyone staying in it until a certain period of time passes. What you get in return is the amount of space it covers, making it perfect for timed lineups and here you will find our best collected ones yet:

A Default

What Does It Cover:  This lineup will cover the default landing spot on A site. That is, the one next to elbow against the wall.

When To Use It:  Best used in a post plant scenario where you need to ensure that enemies do not get on the spike to try and defuse it. Although, only use it when enemies have progressed far enough into site.

What Makes It Special:  Doing this lineup from so far away provides you with safety and enables you to catch the enemy from a place they do not expect.

To do it, come over to the corner on this box, press W until you’re against it and then aim at the corner of that leaf. As you do so, throw your molly.

A Default 2

What Does It Cover: This next lineup on A site will cover the second default planting spot, which is the one against the brick on site. This is mostly called “Plant For Heaven”

When To Use It: As mentioned previously if you ever end up in a lurking position or have a teammate who is, with that plant and this lineup you will be able to secure the round without enemies even seeing it to come.

What Makes It Special: The fact that you can perform it from CT gives you a lot of playability around and makes it easier for you to secure round wins.

To do it, simply come over to this corner on CT, screens and get your crosshair exactly on that dot. As you do so, run and throw your molly.

B Default

What Does It Cover: Over to B site this will cover the B Garage planting spot.

When To Use It: Best used in your post plant scenarios on B site. However, doing this lineup you will be behind the metal box on Garage which means after throwing it, enemies will be focused on you. And that can be an additional advantage for you, as your teammates can take you as a bait.

What Makes It Special: This lineup is very easy and fast, making it a great pick for any delays or round securing plays you might want to do.

Simply come behind this box, aim at that spot from the top of it, and then throw your molly.

B Default 2

What Does It Cover: This lineup is also targeting B site but this time it will be aimed towards the safe default planting spot.

When To Use It: Best used in post plant scenarios with the same circumstances as mentioned previously but this lineup aims for the default planting spot.

What Makes It Special: From the same spot, this lineup makes it easier for you to retreat while still having a way to get anyone of defusing the spike.

Simply come over to the same corner, look at this spot of the wall and then RUN + throw your molly.

Pro Tips

  • Keep in mind that Gekko’s Molly works quite differently. It has a cooldown before it explodes killing anyone standing inside its radius, but it will not deal any damage until that timer has run out.

  • Players can still dodge the molly by running out of it. This is because the molly’s damage comes fast but not in one instant making it possible for some to jump out of it at the right moment. That will still deal some damage though.

  • Since your Molly takes time to activate, this could allow enemies to defuse the spike up to the half depending on the timing and usage of it. Keep that in mind going in any match and using your lineups.

  • Always remember to ask for accompanying utility from your teammates as it can be a tremendous help for your own set of plays with Gekko. Especially in post-plant scenarios.

  • Gekko’s Molly is the only piece of utility that you will be able to pick back up after using. So be precise and ensure that you only use it when you can capitalize on it.

  • In case you use your Molly to clear an angle, do not look away from it just as you throw your ability. You will have to hold the corner for a bit more to ensure that nobody is there as if you catch enemies they will come out swinging and you want to be ready for that.

  • Aside from teammate utility, you can always use Dizzy (Flash Ability) in pair with your Molly lineup. While enemies might stick to the defuse even if the molly hits them, they will definitely get off when fully flashed as they will be scared of you peeking or pushing toward them. In addition, it reveals their position which tells you if they are defusing or not.
