Valorant Map Pool: Current Maps & Upcoming Changes

To keep things fresh, Riot Games regularly rotates the map pool in Valorant, limiting the number of maps available for Ranked play and esports. With the release of patch 10.00 at the start of 2025, the lineup has changed once again. Let’s break down the current map rotation and what’s coming in the next update.
Current Valorant Map Pool
Valorant has a total of 11 maps, but only seven are active in the competitive rotation at any given time. This keeps matches interesting and prevents players from having to master too many maps at once. The latest update has brought back some old favorites while removing others.
Here’s the current Ranked map pool as of patch 10.00:
- Pearl
- Split
- Bind
- Haven
- Abyss
- Fracture
- Lotus
On November 22, 2024, Riot announced that Ascent and Sunset would be removed, making room for Fracture and Lotus to return. This update officially went live on January 7, kicking off Season 2025: Act 1.
What’s Changing in the Next Update?
With patch 10.04, set to launch on March 4, 2025, the map rotation will shift once again:
- Returning: Icebox, Ascent
- Leaving: Bind, Abyss
This change has sparked mixed reactions from the community. While many players are excited for Icebox and Ascent’s return, the removal of Bind—a fan favorite—has left some disappointed. Meanwhile, Abyss, which has been widely criticized, is still sticking around for now.
Why Does Riot Rotate Maps?
There are a few reasons for this system:
- It makes learning maps easier by reducing the number in play at one time.
- It allows Riot’s design team to tweak and improve maps based on player feedback.
- It keeps the game fresh and competitive by forcing players to adapt to new environments.
It’s important to note that this rotation only applies to Ranked play and esports. Other game modes like Spike Rush, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch have their own separate map pools.
