Rage:MP Shutting Down

Rage:MP, one of GTA 5’s longest-running multiplayer modding platforms, is officially shutting down after receiving a cease-and-desist order from Take-Two Interactive.
The team behind Rage:MP confirmed the news in a statement on its official website, saying Rockstar Games and Take-Two have made it clear that FiveM is now the only approved platform for GTA V multiplayer modding.
Because of this, Rage:MP will begin a planned shutdown process, with all community servers expected to close by August 31, 2026.
Rage:MP Begins Shutdown Process
According to the developers, no new community servers will be added to Rage:MP going forward. Public access to the server toolkit has also already been removed.
Existing server owners are being urged to move their projects over to FiveM as soon as possible. The Rage:MP team said it will offer technical help during the transition where possible.
The public server list is set to go offline on June 1, 2026. After that, the platform will continue in a limited state until August 31, 2026, when Rage:MP’s client, server tools, and backend systems are scheduled to be shut down permanently.
FiveM Becomes the Main GTA 5 Multiplayer Modding Platform
The closure is a major moment for the GTA 5 modding scene. Rage:MP had been one of the biggest alternatives to FiveM for years, giving players and server owners another way to build custom multiplayer experiences.
FiveM, however, became officially tied to Rockstar and Take-Two after Take-Two acquired Cfx.re in 2023. With Rage:MP now closing, FiveM is being positioned as the only authorized route for GTA V multiplayer modding.
