GTA 6 Hype Has Now Reached the US Army

GTA 6 is already influencing work schedules, vacation plans, and preorder spending. Now, the excitement surrounding Rockstar’s next game appears to have reached the US Army.
A viral memorandum reportedly issued within the Army’s 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion offers eligible soldiers a special four-day pass if they reenlist before GTA 6 launches.
The document, dated July 28, 2026, describes the offer as a “Special Reenlistment Incentive” designed to improve retention and morale while rewarding soldiers who continue their military service.
Viral Army Memo Offers Four Days Off for GTA 6
According to the document, active-duty enlisted soldiers assigned or attached to the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion could qualify for the incentive.
Any eligible soldier who signs a reenlistment contract between August 1 and November 14, 2026, would be authorized to request a four-day pass. (Now assuming you can finish GTA in 4 days)
The time off is specifically intended to coincide with the release of GTA 6. The memo lists November 20 to November 23 as the planned dates, although the final schedule would be coordinated between each soldier and their chain of command.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. If approved, the pass would give participating soldiers four days immediately following the game’s release to play it.
That does not mean every soldier who reenlists would automatically receive time off. They would still need to submit an absence request through the Integrated Personnel and Pay System-Army, known as IPPS-A, and receive approval from their company commander.
The incentive also cannot be attached to another pass to create an absence longer than four consecutive days.
Not Every Soldier Would Be Eligible
The document includes several restrictions on who could use the GTA 6 pass.
Soldiers flagged for administrative action would be unable to claim the incentive until the issue was resolved. The same restriction would apply to anyone failing to meet the Army’s physical fitness or body composition standards when requesting the pass.
The battalion’s career counselor would reportedly track qualifying reenlistments and provide company commanders with a list of eligible soldiers.
The memo appears to be signed by Lt. Col. Ryan D. Hodgson, who is listed as the unit’s commander. Some details surrounding the document reportedly match publicly available information, including Hodgson recently taking command of the battalion, but this does not prove the memo is legitimate.
GTA 6 Has Become Bigger Than a Normal Game Launch
The document gained attention after being shared by the Instagram account US Army WTF Moments, which called on Rockstar Games to join the promotion.
“Get in on this Rockstar Games. Get games to the troops for reupping,” the account wrote.
Players on Reddit were divided over whether the document was authentic, although many were entertained by the idea that GTA 6 could become an official reenlistment incentive.
“The motion this game has never fails to amaze me,” one user commented.
