Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Early Patch Notes
Modern Warfare 2 was released at the end of 2022 and has had a pretty successful launch. The game quickly became the best-selling Call of Duty title ever during the first weekend alone.
Furthermore, Infinity Ward did not rest on its laurels and regularly delivered new content for players. Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2 released the new Battle Pass system, whereas the mid-season update introduced the new Chimera Assault Rifle and the fan-favourite Shipment map.
However, now that the new year has started, fans are starting to wonder what the game’s Season 2 might have in store for them. If you are among those players who are eagerly waiting to know more, then you have landed at the right place!
In this article, you will find everything there is to know about Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, from the start date to the return of another one of their classic maps.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Start Date
Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 will officially release on the 15th of February, Wednesday. Although the content drop was previously scheduled for the 1st of February, Activision confirmed a two-week delay.
Hence, the release of the Season was pushed back to the new date midway through the month, which came as a bummer for fans. February 15th is also the same date as the release of Warzone 2’s Season 2, so there is tons of stuff for Call of Duty fans to look forward to.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Castle Map
A few leaked screenshots from WhatIfGaming have given the fans a hint that Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 will come with a samurai theme. This means that there will be a return of the iconic Castle multiplayer map.
Many players were huge fans of this arena which was first introduced in World at War all the way back in 2008. However, it received an overhaul before it featured in Vanguard last year.
Even though the map’s setting of Okinawa, Japan, would definitely suit the reported samurai theme in Season 2 of the game, there are plenty of fans that might be disappointed that another map they have played so recently is coming back.
The very first update was released with Shoothouse from Modern Warfare 2019, and Season 2 introduced Shipment, which has featured in three out of the last four Call of Duty releases.
Hardcore Mode Returning In Modern Warfare 2 Season 2
Season 2 news is slowly trickling in, and one of the latest announcements confirmed that Hardcore will return to the game. Although Tier 1 existed and provided players with a similar experience, many players eagerly waited to hear about the news on the proper Hardcore playlist.
However, we know for sure that it will return in Season 2 as part of a Tier 1 mode replacement. Hardcore increases damage across the board, removes a player’s HUD, and lowers health. Each shot matters, and every bit of information can push a player ahead of the enemy team.
Modern Warfare 2 Ronin Operator
Furthermore, to keep in sync with the samurai theme that is proposed for Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, many leaks have revealed that the Ronin Operator will be made available to players. The fans first met the Operator in Modern Warfare 2019, so it would not come as a surprise for anyone to see him return in the sequel.
It took no time for Ronin to become a popular character in the game and first arrived in Modern Warfare Season 3. The character is inspired by Tu Lam, a real-life Special Forces Operator who served in the United States Army.
Will Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Mode Arrive In Season 2?
The Ranked mode of Modern Warfare 2 will officially release with Season 2. Activision confirmed that the competitive mode will launch on the very first day of the new season as well. This means that players can jump into the ranked experience from the 15th of February only.
In spite of deploying a Community Update on the 25th of January, Infinity Ward has not said a word about the new Ranked maps and modes. However, more details will become available prior to the launch of Season 2.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2’s Playlists
The latest Community Update also confirmed the return of Call of Duty’s Valentine's Day playlist. However, the specifics regarding this remain unknown to us as of yet. Infinity plans on hosting a Twitter poll for one week per month during Season 2. This will allow players to “vote on one of that week’s playlists from a rotating pool.”
General Changes Coming To Modern Warfare 2 Season 2
Infinity Ward has highlighted global changed to Modern Warfare 2 as well as Warzone 2. Specifically for Multiplayer, players can expect the return of the previously removed audio occlusion system.
In response to issues with the Ghost Perk, the developers have “updated the rate at which the bonus and the ultimate perks are earned.” This should decrease the bonus perk cost by 50%, with the cost of ultimate reducing by 25%.
An adjustment like this will allow users to earn Ghost way earlier in the matches. Moreover, weapon balancing is also on the table for Season 2 for new weapons. However, we won't know the full details until Season 2’s launch patch notes go live.
That is all there is to know about Modern Warfare 2 Season 2. Let’s just wait and see what else the new season brings with itself.
