The Most Wanted event is officially underway in Fortnite, with the Cold Blooded syndicate taking over the Island. Players can also find rare Exotic Weapons in the Vaults as part of this event and complete a series of quests to receive tons of free cosmetics as a reward.

However, there is one feature in this game that will most probably leave players confused, which is the new Heat Level. This comes up on the screen during every Battle Royale match, but one won’t immediately know how this feature affects their game.

Purpose Of Heat Level In Fortnite

The new Heat Level meter in Fortnite appears as a series of flames in the top left corner of the screen. It tells a player about how much attention is being paid to them by the Cold Blooded syndicate.

For those of you who might not know, the Cold Blooded syndicate are a part of the Most Wanted event and is a new group of aggressive NPCs that will appear around the Island during the event. When a player has any amount of Heat on them, these NPCs will attack them on sight.

It is also necessary to know that having Heat means that your enemies will be able to see you marked on the minimap. This might make it very challenging for you to sneak up on your enemies and might make it difficult for you to eliminate them.

How To Raise Your Heat Level In Fortnite

A player’s Heat Level will increase as they eliminate their enemies and open the Cold Blooded Vaults. These are special Vaults that one can only open with Keycards that the Cold Blooded Bosses drop once they are defeated.

Players can also increase their Heat Level by spending Gold Bars at Burner Pay Phones present all over the Island. One can locate the Burner Pay Phones on the minimap as they will appear as small telephone symbols.

While increasing one’s Heat Level will put them at a higher risk of being targeted by the aggressive NPCs and other players, it also comes with a series of helpful perks which we have mentioned below:

What Perks Do You Get With Each Heat Level Stage?

Heat Level	Perks
One Flame	Opponents drop more Bars when eliminated.
Two Flames	Movement speed increases by 15%, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health when you’re outside of combat.
Three Flames	Movement speed increases by 20%, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health and 50 Shield when you’re outside of combat.
Four Flames	Movement speed increases by 25%, and you’ll regenerate up to 100 Health and 100 Shield when you’re outside of combat.
