Will GTA 6 Have Online?

Take-Two has moved to calm one of the bigger concerns surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6, with CEO Strauss Zelnick addressing claims that the game’s physical release could arrive later than the digital version.
The rumor had gained attention after reports suggested Rockstar Games might hold back physical copies of GTA 6 to reduce the risk of early leaks. For a game as massive as Grand Theft Auto 6, that concern did not sound impossible to fans, especially after years of leaks, speculation, and delays surrounding the project.
However, Zelnick has now made it clear that a delayed physical rollout is not currently part of Take-Two’s plan.
When asked about the idea of physical copies arriving after the main release date, Zelnick simply said: “That’s not the plan.”
GTA 6 Is Still Targeting November 2026
GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, after being delayed more than once. The game was first expected during the 2025 holiday window before being moved to May 26, 2026, and then pushed again to its current November date.
That history is exactly why many fans have remained nervous about another delay. Every new rumor around the game’s launch, editions, or availability quickly spreads across the community because players have already waited more than a decade since GTA 5.
Still, Take-Two’s latest comments suggest the company is not planning to split the launch between digital and physical buyers. As things stand, GTA 6 is expected to be available on its current release date without a separate delay for boxed versions.
Why Fans Thought Physical Copies Could Be Delayed
The delay rumor came from the idea that physical copies create a bigger leak risk. Once boxed versions are shipped to retailers, warehouses, and early buyers, there is always a chance that someone gets access before launch day.
That risk is especially serious for GTA 6. Rockstar has already dealt with major leaks in the past, and the studio is clearly trying to control the rollout of information as much as possible.
Because of that, some fans believed Rockstar might avoid shipping physical versions too early or delay them entirely until after launch. Zelnick’s response does not reveal every logistical detail, but it does shut down the idea that Take-Two is currently planning a separate delayed physical release.
GTA 6 Pricing Has Now Been Revealed
Rockstar has also revealed the official pricing for GTA 6. The Standard Edition is listed at $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is priced at $99.99.
The higher-than-usual standard price has already sparked plenty of debate, but it is not too surprising considering GTA 6 is expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches ever. The Ultimate Edition includes extra content tied to Jason and Lucia’s story, including additional vehicles, weapons, apparel, and other in-game bonuses.
For players who just want the base experience, the Standard Edition remains the main option. For those who want the extra content from day one, the Ultimate Edition is Rockstar’s premium offering.
Take-Two Also Comments on GTA Online’s Future
Zelnick was also asked about what GTA 6 means for the current version of GTA Online.
That question matters because GTA Online is still a huge part of Rockstar’s business. Even more than a decade after GTA 5 first launched, the online mode continues to bring players back through updates, events, and new content.
According to Zelnick, Take-Two has every reason to believe GTA Online will continue to be supported as long as the community stays active.
He pointed to the game’s loyal player base and said Rockstar has shown that when it delivers strong new content, players continue to show up, even after so many years on the market.
GTA Online Probably Is Not Going Away Anytime Soon
Zelnick’s comments do not confirm exactly how GTA Online will evolve after GTA 6. Rockstar has still not fully revealed whether GTA 6 will launch with its own new online mode, whether the current GTA Online will continue separately, or whether the two will eventually connect in some way.
However, the message is clear: Take-Two does not sound ready to abandon GTA Online.
That makes sense.
GTA 6 Still Has Big Questions Left
Even with the release date, pricing, and editions now clearer, GTA 6 still has several unanswered questions.
Fans still want to know more about gameplay, the size of Leonida, side activities, performance on consoles, and, of course, whether a new GTA Online experience will arrive alongside the game or sometime after launch.
For now, the latest comments from Take-Two should ease at least one concern: a physical release delay is not currently planned. GTA Online also appears set to continue for the foreseeable future, as long as players remain engaged.
