In a recent development in the esports world, 100Thieves has made a significant move by signing Kelden "Boostio" Pupello, the former in-game leader (IGL) of Evil Geniuses. This acquisition has sparked a light-hearted rivalry between the two organizations, especially highlighted in the announcement video.

Boostio, renowned for his leadership skills in VALORANT, joins the 100Thieves roster, which includes Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk, Sean "bang" Bezerra, Matthew "Cyrocells" Panganiban, and Daniel "eeiu" Vucenovic. The announcement video humorously depicted Boostio being freed from "contract jail" by 100Thieves' Head Coach Tony "Zikz" Gray, with Boostio himself joking about his "long four months."

This signing comes at a time when Evil Geniuses, despite their victory at the VALORANT Champions 2024, faced significant cutbacks in their esports division, including layoffs and rumors of leaving the VCT. The contrast between the two organizations was further emphasized in the realm of merchandise. While Evil Geniuses faced criticism for their Champions-winning merch line, which had quality issues, 100Thieves, known for their impressive range of merchandise, has already featured Boostio in their signature clothing.

Adding to the playful banter, Maddie Soer, an editor at 100Thieves, took to Twitter to mock Evil Geniuses' merch mishaps. With Boostio's addition, 100Thieves is looking to make a strong impact in the upcoming VALORANT Champions Tour, aiming to overcome their previous challenges and establish a stronger presence in the esports scene.
